the outfit that helps easing back into things

When you see piles of old Christmas trees gathered around the corners of every neighbourhood, you kind of have to admit that the festive time is over. And it’s probably about time to put away all that sequins and glitters to slowly ease back into things.

For myself, January is usually not as depressing as many may think. One of the big factor that cheers me up is that I can start styling all the gorgeous bargains I’ve snatched during the winter sale. What’s more when you meet friends and colleagues, you can always swap info and inspirations for some more last minute clearance shopping too.

Starting with something neutral is always a good idea if you ask me. Of course you can also go for a classic black or a safe grey. But to me they are just a little too “quiet” this time around to kick start the new year.  So I went for a camel/beige theme for this first outfit I’m sharing with you in 2017.

A cape is a great piece to spice things up a little in your winter wardrobe. I bought this incredible (and again, reversible) piece from the Net-a-Porter sale. Another element in this outfit also has come from the same purchase, and that is the pair of over-the-knee boots from Stuart Weitzman. These boots have been loved by many for a long time now. I didn’t really get the gist, until this, well I mean, last year. They are light, lengthening, and warm enough for a cheeky little winter skirt/dress situation anytime you want. I bought two pairs in fact, this winter, one grey, one camel. They go with 80% of the outfits I could think of in my wardrobe. They are not the cheapest, but they are well worth the price if you do a little “price-per-wear” calculation.
