Staycation in Bunyola(Buñola), Mallorca

Although summer 2017 has long gone by now, about two weeks ago I still felt like my summer wasn’t complete somehow. I needed a summer holiday that ideally involved some beach, sun, sea… in short, an island break. I was so determined that I booked for a very last minute 3-day break with Airbnb, hopefully to catch that last bit of summer heat in Europe. And Mallorca in Spain, is where I’ve chosen.

Mallorca is a very small island. To get away from all the hustle and bustle for a truly relaxed mini break, I went for a very secluded cottage set in the quiet little town of Bunyola, half an hour drive north of the capital. As soon as I arrived, I only realised how perfect the town and cottage were. I could think of no better place for a summer staycation than this little hidden haven.

The place is very well hidden half way up a hill overlooking the whole town of Bunyola. The cottage bursts with beautiful rustic interior details, along with a garden that included a fabulous pool featuring a natural stone bottom. We share the space with two chickens, a pig and a mysterious number of cats.

Mid-October mornings in Spain can be just a little chilly. Before sunshine warms up the air, a leather jacket keeps me warm while a white tee and a jersey skirt gives me all the comfort I need.

Every morning I go on an “excursion” to the hens’ hut. Any egg laid over the night should become part of our breakfast. (Is there anything cooler?)

The few stone steps by the pool seemed like a common meeting place for the (god knows how many) cats on the ground.  I sat myself down there too, hoping to get acquainted with those fluffy local residents.
