Staycation at the Blakes, London

In case you didn’t know, I am a person who loves to celebrate birthdays. And it doesn’t matter if it was mine or a loved one’s.

This year for hubby’s birthday, a little staycation was planned months ago at the Blakes Hotel where I wrote about a while ago. (For refreshed memory)

I couldn’t help the excitement as we were showed to our room, since every room in the hotel is uniquely designed. It was much like a little child blind-picking a piece from a box of chocolate. Our beautiful room was grey & gold themed, decorated with antique furnitures that matched seamlessly with my handbag. The bathroom was all grey and marble, mixed just by the right proportion.

After a little exciting tour around the room, we finally sat down and the birthday boy got to open his present.(you can totally tell how happy he was from this picture of his hands, can’t you?) And then we headed to the roof top terrace for some pre-dinner drinks.

Staring into the city lights from somewhere quiet and hidden like that rooftop, I promise you is a feeling I don’t mind repeating over and over again. And time passed particularly fast on that rooftop for some reason. Before you knew it, it was time to head to dinner! We took a 5 minutes taxi trip (just take a look at my heels!) to Mr Chow, going past all the busy, beautiful crowds and shops of Brompton Road.

Okra fries, Dragon dumplings(Shao Long Bao), Lobster glass noodles and the Signature black pepper steak were all to die for. For two hungry Chinese, those dishes were the right balance between being authentic and creative, top quality, fresh ingredients were used, and made our birthday boy real happy!

After dinner, we took our stuffed tummies for a much needed walk back to the hotel. I got a chance to show you my outfit for the evening. To me, there are only very few occasions when you might really want to dress not only all according your own taste, and also rather to make your other half feel special. And his birthday, is one of those occasions.

Came the next morning, a full English to celebrate the beginning of hubby’s birthday. And literately, there’s no better way to top a full English done right.

Find an excuse to plan a staycation soon? Will you?
